GEORGE HOLLIDAY – YOUNG & FREE
Piano pop inspired by travelling, collaboration and creating new experiences, Young & Free is the latest release from songwriter George Holliday’s ‘Made On The Road’ project. A song made for the road, to be belted out at the top of your lungs, Young & Free no doubt has the potential to be a massive mainstream hit. There’s a huge amount of influences going on, gained through his experiences on the road in Europe, and this makes it even more interesting to see where this project will take George next.
KICKIN’ LILIES – ALL THESE BAD DREAMS
Alt-rock straight out of Sunderland, five-piece Kickin’ Lilies released their latest banger All These Bad Dreams last month. Loud and anthemic in equal measure, it’s an almost 4-minute whirlwind of fuzzed-up, gritty chaos. It was probably an odd experience releasing their debut single as lockdown across the country started to lift, but I’m sure when they are able to perform live again, this track is going to go down a storm with their already loyal fanbase.
LEOPARD RAYS – BROTHER
Aggression-fuelled indie-rock track Brother is the latest release from Hartlepool quartet Leopard Rays. Self-penned as “heavy as hell but beautifully melodic”, this is a true representation of what the band are all about; creating a few minutes of chaos with a dangerous, rebellious attitude to match. Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters influences are present for sure, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this transcends in their live shows in the future.
LUKE ROYALTY – OCTOBER SEVEN
Blending soul and synth-pop, the Liverpool’s Luke Royalty writes jazz-laden mellow pop hits. Drawing influences from the likes of Frank Ocean and Mac Miller, Luke pours his heart out in his lyricism, writing about failing relationships and indecisive feelings. October Seven is a seriously cool release, kind of like if Tom Grennan performed an Easy Life song. Expect more singles from Luke Royalty before the year is out!
ORCHARD – UNIVERSAL SIGH
Inspired by the likes of The Maccabees and Bombay Bicycle Club, Universal Sigh is the debut release from Stoke melodic indie-rockers Orchard. Intense and emotive in equal measure, Universal Sigh has a truly colossal sound, while remaining chilled out and ethereal at the same time. The guitar tones are of true beauty and lead singer Tom Harley’s vocals and laid upon to perfection. It’s a powerful debut release from the Stoke lads who are beginning to generate a real buzz around the city and beyond.
THE SILVER LINES – BREATHE
A song exploring the inner struggles of temptation, Birmingham punk outfit The Silver Lines are currently making serious waves with their latest single Breathe. The quartet have enjoyed performances across the globe, including The New Colossus Festival in the US, and have received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music. Breathe is a raw, dirty-punk track that asserts The Silver Lines’ ever-growing presence in the UK’s promising punk scene.
